Cadets and staff from Cumbria and Lancashire wing marked the 75th Anniversary of the Air Training Corps in style. Wing Commander Malloy led the 800+ strong congregation from across 33 different squadrons. The day started with a church service at Sacred Heart Church. Cadets from 177 (Blackpool Airport) and 2454 (North Blackpool) gave readings. Everyone then fell into their allocated flights at the North Pier and marched to the Winter Gardens. Blackpool was blue as floods of uniformed personnel took to the streets. The event is held biyearly in a different location each time depending on who the host squadron is.
For some cadets it was their first parade of such a large scale. Afterwards snacks and drinks were served inside the Winter Gardens venue and everyone had the opportunity to catch up with friends from around the wing. All aspects of the event ran smoothly - including a few fleeing berets from the wind.
''It was such a great opportunity to be able to say 'thank-you' to those who started the fantastic organisation that is the ATC. I was honored to be able to represent my squadron and wing in such a spectacular event. It was so much fun seeing all the friends I've made at various cadet activities in one room.''
